CAN I PLAY IN MAHONE BAY?

YES, YOU CAN! Here is why: SSDSA board members recently agreed that if an area is starting a new club, players from that area should be permitted to return to their home community to play soccer. Click here SSDSA’s By-Law clarification.  This means:
  1. Any players who live in the Bayview School catchment area will be considered a Mahone Bay player, even if they have previously played for another club in the South Shore District in 2023.
  2. If you played for another local club in 2023 and want to play for Mahone Bay in 2024, sign up! It is highly likely we will be able to welcome you onto our teams. ​
Please note, Mahone Bay teams must not consist of a majority of players who were previously registered with another existing local club in the summer of 2023 (unless they live in Bayview catchment).
​Current plans are for Mahone Bay team practices to be on MONDAYS on the following times: 
  • U9: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
  • U11: 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
  • U13: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
However, we are waiting on the league to confirm game days. As such, the above practices may have to shift. We will also be holding a "Club Practice" once a week with ALL the teams together. We have tentatively scheduled this ahead of the Men's Games on Friday afternoons.

WHY WOULD I PLAY IN MAHONE BAY?

​Because we are awesome! :-) More seriously, here is how Francis and Tim, our founders, describe our competitive teams:
“In Mahone Bay, we are building genuine opportunities for player development and improvement. We have lots of ideas and formats for participation that will continue to challenge our players to grow and improve, whatever league or level they have played in. This includes setting challenges for our teams / players around formations, set plays, passing sequences, learning position specific skills etc. We think of our competitive teams as an academy where the kids grow as leaders and improve as players.”

Tournaments & Player ID: we are looking at 3 tournaments (one in May!) and a Soccer Nova Scotia Player ID in Bridgewater in June. Which teams go depends on the team levels, desire and availability.
Halifax Wanderers FC: we have a partnership with Halifax Wanderers. They are helping us build our competitive teams, coach development and club structure. The pros are on our side!
A beautiful field: we recently upgraded the field in the heart of Mahone Bay. It is gorgeous to play on, comfortable for spectators and right next to the Mahone Bay Centre with all of their facilities.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

You know you want to! Here are the teams we are offering in 2024:
GIRLS: U9, U11, U13   //   BOYS: U9, U11, U13   //   SENIOR MEN
(If any of these teams look unlikely to proceed we will notify you by April 24th, so you have time to register for alternative clubs).
  1. CLICK THIS LINK and you will go to a page with a list of the teams we are offering. Click on the team you would like to register for.
  2. You will come to the sign in page. If you have played for a club before, type in your log in details. If this is your first time you will need to create a Soccer Nova Scotia RAMP account.
  3. Follow the steps: participant information, emergency contact(s), waivers, sign up questions.
  4. Once you get to payment, select cash or cheque. This will allow us to reach out to you with our payment platform with a sliding payment scale to participate ($0 -> 150% of a players individual cost). If you would like to enter the payment platform directly here are the links:

MBU is excited to host a South Shore Competitive Futsal League! This is an opportunity for players and families to participate in accessible local competitive soccer during the Winter. There will be a focus on technical skills, creative expression and positive team play. The Halifax Wanderers are helping power the league too! It's going to be awesome ...
HERE'S THE SCOOP:
  • KICK OFF - January 19th kick off camp with Halifax Wanderers.
  • COMPETE - Games are on Saturdays 3-5pm. Gym Locations (TBC): Chester, Bridgewater, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay.
  • TRAIN - Sundays 1pm-2pm in the Bayview Gym + any team organized trainings with MBU coaches.
  • AWARDS - March 9th Halifax Wanderers players will join us for the awards ceremony.
JOINING THE LEAGUE:
  • Maximum 10 teams. FIFA Futsal rules. MBU Coaches Referee.
  • Ages 9-14. Free to play.
  • Maximum squad size is 8 players, minimum 2 girls in the squad, 1 girl on the field the whole time
  • Register as a team (minimum 5 players) if you don’t have a team register individually and we’ll find you a team
